FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD

November 30

As Christians we ought to obey the laws of the land because the Bible tells us to unless it violates Christian principles that are specifically spelled out, or our conscience based on Biblical guidelines. We are free in Christ in the sense that we have been set free from our condemnation and can now do good because of who we are in Him and His power that enables us. We are not free to disobey any law we don’t like just because we don’t like it such as paying taxes and other laws that apply only to those who live in a particular area. This displeases God. We ought to respect all people, especially those who are in authority over us. Our main responsibility to other Christians is show love to them. Are we showing the world we are different by the way we live, love, and obey?

1 Peter 2:15-17 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men– 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
