Matthew has wanted us to understand the authority of Jesus throughout his whole Gospel. Now that Jesus has been resurrected and done all that He was tasked with to forgive us and save us that authority is in full force. The disciples had a limited task of sharing the Gospel with Israel before this time and now the time for them and all believers to go and make disciples has been started. This means we are to share the Good News, the Gospel that is in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, that Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection is what paid for our sins. Is this the most important goal of our life? It should be because that is why Jesus when He saved us left us here, so we can tell others who He is and what He has done in our lives.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
