MAKING GODLY DECISIONS

March 25

In Luke 1:67-70 we see God open the mouth of Zacharias after having shut it because of unbelief in what God had told him in the temple.  God uses him to speak about the promises of salvation through Jesus Christ which had been foretold since the beginning of time as we know it since the world was created.  God has always had his prophets (those who spoke of Jesus) who told of all the great things that God would do through His Son Jesus and of the time when He would come. It is spoken of as already having been fulfilled because when God says something you can bank on it coming true. This redeemer was to come through the family line of David and it did.  God still speaks today through His word and can use us to tell others about Him and all that He has done and can do for those who will believe and trust in Christ.  Are we unbelieving like Zacharias or do we trust in God so much so that when He speaks to us through His word and prayer that we are willing to believe and follow Him wherever He leads us and in whatever He asks us to do?

Luke 1:67-70 Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying: 68 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, 69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, 70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began, Luke 1:76 “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, 77 To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; 79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.” 80 So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.
