PRAYER AND THANKS

December 28

Have you ever prayed to the Lord to deliver you from death?  The Psalmist does this in Psalm 116.  Verse 15 is actually written with the context of the Psalmist having been delivered. Sometimes God delivers us and sometimes He does not.  Either way God is good.  Have you and I thanked God for the times He has delivered us (we may not even know some of those times)? Our life is something that we should never take for granted, it is precious and should be treated as such.  We should thank God for all the blessings He gives us and one of them is life which could be taken away from us at any moment and it is God’s right to do so when His purposes are finished in our lives.  Thanks be to God for all He does and continues to do for us each and every day.  Amen!

Leupold believed the fact that “the death of His godly ones” is “precious in the Lord’s sight” involves at least two things: “One is that He is manifestly watching over what takes place even when His saints are not rescued but seemingly perish. The other is that He frequently intervenes and will not allow them to perish. His saints can have assurance either way [cf. 72:13-14].” 1058Leupold, p. 808.

Psalms 116:15-19 Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints. 16 O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. 18 I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people, 19 In the courts of the LORD’S house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
