Many in this day were preaching what people wanted to hear to get gain from it as many do today. We are always tempted to be liked rather than tell people the truth from the word. It is more important that we please God rather than man. Paul was letting them know that he was not in it for the money or being liked, but only wanted to please God. Let us as we go about our everyday lives be people that others know are honest and above reproach in all we say and do no matter the situation. As they used to say, what you see is what you get. Our sincere love and speech is that which will get people’s attention.
2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
