WHO OR WHAT ARE WE GIVING OUR BEST TO?

September 24

The churches of Macedonia were in a great trial and poverty, yet they gave themselves to the Lord first, then they gave to Paul and the others with him to meet their needs for their service they were doing for Christ. Let’s remember that Jesus gave Himself to provide the ultimate gift of salvation, when He died on that cross so that we might go to heaven. Eph 2:8-9 says For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast. And Jesus said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ So today and every day why don’t we give the gift of our time, our resources, and our abilities, to meet spiritual and physical needs, that’s the least we can do since Jesus gave us His all.

2 Corinthians 8:1-5 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: 2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, 4 imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.
