Paul wants us to understand that we are in a war with the evil of this world. Then he wants us to know where our source of strength is, which is the Lord. Stand strong in the Lord and the power of His might. He also wants us to know what the armor of God is (From Romans chapter 13:11-14 we learn that “putting on our armor” is simply “putting on Christ:”) and also that we need put it on. Lastly Paul wants us to know who our real enemy is, not the people around us but the devil and his demons so we can stand against his schemes. Our offensive weapons are being ready at all times for battle, living in the truth of God’s word, living righteously, standing on the firm foundation of God’s peace, trusting in God no matter what comes our way in life, and finally waiting and holding onto the hope that someday the battle will be over and we won’t have to struggle with sin and the flesh and the devil and the world and demons. This is a confidence that our salvation is secure and firm. Lastly our offensive weapons are using the word of God to fight off the lies of the devil and praying to God for His help for us and for all the saints. Let us as Paul admonishes us be faithful in doing this so we can win the battle. Amen!
Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
