A SENSE OF AWE

November 3

Apparently a storm was approaching as Elihu was speaking to Job. In the East, you can see a storm brewing miles away and watch as it approaches. What was Elihu’s response to the roar of the storm? First the storm reminded him of God’s sovereignty and God’s goodness. “This is the way He governs the nations and provides food in abundance” (36:31). It also produced in him a sense of awe at the mighty power of God (37:1). David noted a similar experience in Psalm 29. Are we in awe of God and His power, the way He does all things and does them perfectly? We should be and our heart should tremble as Elihu’s did at the thought of these things.

Job 37:2 Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice, to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
