2 Peter 3:1-2 Peter wanted to remind these Christians of the things he had told them before and as they needed it, so do we. Sometimes we think I have heard this before and tune it out, but one preacher said I don’t have a 1000 sermons I have about 30. He was saying God is always reminding us of the things we have been taught because we so easily forget. The Greeks used the word pure to speak of genuine or unmixed. What he is saying is our lives should stand up to the judgement of God’s Word. In the second verse he puts the New Testament Scriptures on the same authoritative level as the Old Testament. It has all been inspired by God and written down by men in their own styles. Let us remember and remind each other continually of the need to be diligent in the study and application of God’s word to our lives.
2 Peter 3:1-2 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior.
