BEARING OUR SIN ON THE CROSS

December 8

Jesus is really bearing Simon’s sin on the cross even though Simon is carrying the cross of Jesus.  After we come to Christ we see Simon as a picture of what we are supposed to do as Christians. In Matthew 16:24 it says If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. True discipleship is about not always doing the things you want to do.  Jesus said deny yourself and take up your cross and follow me. Paul said I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  We get joy out of doing things for ourselves, but how about for Christ? What have we given up or sacrificed to follow Jesus?

Matthew 27:31-32 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified. 32 Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His cross.
