BEING THANKFUL FOR GOD’S MERCY

June 29

Aren’t we thankful that God is so totally different from us! He does not punish us immediately or completely like we deserve for the sins we commit.  He doesn’t pay us back (get even) with us and give us the punishment we deserve.  His love is a loyal love and is totally limitless for those who have trusted in Him.  He completely removes our sins.  God says As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. This means if someone travels north or south he finally arrives at a pole from which he can proceed no farther north or south. However, if someone travels east or west, he never reaches such a point. God did not say He forgives (or removes) our sins as far as the north is from the south, but as far as the east is from the west, namely: to infinity—in degree or distance. He does this because He is God and in His Fatherly Characteristics He remembers that we are only human and so deals with us knowing our limited abilities.  Hallelujah, what a Savior, Redeemer, and Glorious Forgiving God He is. Amen!

Psalms 103:10-14 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him. 14 For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.
