LOSING OUT ON GOD’S BEST

December 27

2 Chronicles 25:7-9 Amaziah the king obeyed God partially in his war with the Edomites. He unwisely hired mercenary soldiers to help him rather than seeking the Lord’s help. However, when the prophet rebuked him, he obediently dismissed them, even though it cost him 7,500 pounds of silver. Nevertheless, because he had hired them, he not only lost his money, but he also lost the lives of some of his soldiers, when the Israelites retaliated for having been dismissed. Furthermore, he disobeyed God by importing the gods of Edom. Finally, he refused to repent. The principle here is to totally and completely obey God. We tend to trust in what we can do or depend on others to help us out of tough places. Partial obedience or total disobedience always causes us to lose out on God’s best for our lives. God is able to do all things and always does it with His and our best in mind. Who are we trusting in and are we being completely obedient?

2 Chronicles 25:7-9 But a man of God came to him, saying, “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel-not with any of the children of Ephraim. 8 “But if you go, be gone! Be strong in battle! Even so, God shall make you fall before the enemy; for God has power to help and to overthrow.” 9 Then Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do about the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?” And the man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”
