In Luke 22 we see Jesus telling the disciples all that they would go through leading up to and after His death on the cross. He also says that they will deny Him. Peter says he will never do that, but will die for Jesus. We know that Jesus says Peter will deny Him 3 times and then will be strengthened through the prayers of Jesus to come back and be the leader again of the disciples. Lastly, we see Peter along with the rest of the disciples is sleeping while Jesus is praying to the Father about going to the cross. Jesus tells them to rise and pray lest they enter into temptation. So, we see Peter and the rest of the disciples deserting Jesus and Peter especially fails as Jesus predicted. Why is this? Because they did not do what they should have been doing, Praying! Why do we fail, because we are instructed to pray to God to not let us be tempted and to pass the test when they do come. The Bible over and over says we will be tempted, but God will give us the strength to endure if we will only ask and be prepared for those times. Are we praying and are we prepared? What verses do you have memorized to help you when the devil comes with his lies and deceit? That is what Jesus did when tempted, He used the scriptures. Let us be always ready and not fail and fall when temptation comes our way.
Luke 22:31-34,46 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” 33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.” 34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”, 46 Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
