DO YOU BEAR FRUIT OR WILL YOU BE CUT OFF?

June 12

In John 15:1-2 we will see that Jesus is telling us that He is the true source of our spiritual and physical life. Acts 17:28 “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’  2Peter 1:3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.  Jesus is the source of it all and the Father is the one who will do the cutting (chastising in our life) when it is needed.  The way a vine produces fruit is by cutting it back and it will produce more.  God does the same thing in our life when He cuts away those unnecessary things out of our life so we can continue to grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus is talking about two groups of people here.  One is the true Christians who when they are cut on bear more fruit and the false Christians who never bear any fruit.  Mt 7:16 “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?  17 “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. 21″Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
