RECEIVING A FULL REWARD

January 10

2 John 1:8 John was concerned that the false teachers and deceivers would not be able to undo the church’s work and missions they had undertaken in the surrounding communities. He was concerned that these people would continue to be faithful so as to get the rewards they would receive at the Judgement Seat of Christ. This is the final judgement for believers where they receive rewards for what they have done on earth for the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit. This is not whether you go to heaven or not, that was determined the moment you trusted Christ and can never be taken away from a true believer. All of us whether we realize it or not if we are Christians are determining our place in heaven forever with our faithfulness or unfaithfulness to do the work of the Lord. It is possible to lose rewards because we don’t finish well. Go read 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 Corinthians 3:5-15. Are we being faithful?

Every believer ought to be working for a reward, to be able to hear Him say someday, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant’ (see Matt. 25:21[cf. 2 Tim. 4:7-8]).

2 John 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
