REMEMBERING

December 25

Here God probably in response to the Sabbath breaking that just occurred asked the Israelites to make visual reminders of their tendency to do wrong, and to remember to obey God, to be holy, and remember what God did for them. All of the people could obey this command from the poorest to the wealthiest.  We need to do whatever it takes to do the same thing in our lives.  We need to remember without a daily emphasis on our walk with God we are prone wander away from God and sin. We are still capable of doing great evil if we get far enough away from Him. No one is immune.  We need to remember what He has done for us and remember we represent Him in this world.  He brought us out of Egypt (sin) into the land of promise (salvation) and life (the wilderness) is treacherous if we try to go it without Him leading the way.

Numbers 15:37-41 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 “And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, 40 “and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God. 41 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.”
