Hezekiah’s love for God was shown in how he cared for the temple. Ahaz’s reign was full of war, but Hezekiah enjoyed peace. God rewarded Hezekiah’s spiritual restoration of Judah with a remarkable military deliverance. Yet “good king” Hezekiah was not the completely faithful Son of David whose kingdom God had promised to establish forever. We ought to heed the obedience of this King and clean up our lives, clean up our church and get rid of all the trash in our lives and in the church. Many times we tolerate to our loss the little sins in our lives and the things in the church we would rather not deal with. Both our lives and the church (God’s people) ought to be a holy example to those around us. Is this the way we live?
2 Chronicles 29:3-5 In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of the LORD and repaired them. 4 Then he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them in the East Square, 5 and said to them: “Hear me, Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place.
