A MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR

April 15

Gideon is hiding in the winepress from the Midianites when God comes to him and calls him a mighty man of valor.  Can you imagine Gideon looking around for someone else that God might be speaking to and then saying who me? But, this is all of us, without God we hide and are afraid especially when God comes along with some task He wants us to do.  Let us not be like Gideon who tested God before he would believe Him, but let us when God calls us to some task that we don’t think we are up to doing, say yes Lord what is it that you would have me to do?  We miss out on so much of what God wants to do in our life first of all because we don’t make ourselves available and secondly because we don’t trust God to give us the strength and ability to do what He asks us to do.  God doesn’t want our ability, He wants our availability, He will supply what is required to do the task.  Step out today and say God what is it you want me to do and then trust Him when He tells you. Amen!

Judges 6:11-14 Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. 12 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” 13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” 14 Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”

The Lord called all the people then alive in Judah, to pay attention to, and to take to heart, His message to them. He had not been as ungiving as a wilderness or as unenlightening as darkness to them. They had no reason to feel free to abandon Him. Let us remember...
