ARE YOU HELPING OR HURTING THE CHURCH?

April 27

Samuel did what any good leader should do. He knew that the people had rebelled and sinned against God, but this could not be undone.  Instead he encouraged the people to follow the Lord with all their heart and remember all the good things God had done for them.  Samuel also said that God would not abandon them and he would not either for what they had done, but he would teach them and pray for them as all good leaders and Christians should do for others who have strayed.  We need to, if we have strayed remember what God has done for us and remember He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).  Also, we don’t want to shoot our wounded, but we need to come alongside those who have strayed, encourage them to do all these things and pray for them.  The church is a hospital for sinners and we need to remember that. Only Jesus The Great Physician can heal us and forgive us of our sin.

“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. (1 Samuel 12:23-24)
