GIVING GOD ALL THAT WE SHOULD

May 3

This familiar story in Luke 21 gives us a few things we should take away from it.  First, it is not how much you give, it is the heart with which you give it.  Secondly, did that gift you gave cost you anything?  In other words, was it something that you sacrificed or gave up to give? Thirdly, we see that the system was set up so that it literally trumpeted the amount someone was giving as the money flowed down the tube making noise.  I still believe the Bible teaches that we should give God at least 10% of everything we have including our time and abilities.  So, I guess the question is what do we do with our time, abilities, and money?  Are we giving God all that we should because we love Him and want to honor and serve Him with all that we have? If not, why not?

Luke 21:1-4 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. 3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; 4 “for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
