GIVING THANKS AND PRAISE

July 4
This psalm praises God for His faithful dealings with Israel as should we. The Israelites needed to be faithful to God, because He had been faithful to them. The same is true of Christians today. The unknown psalmist called on Israel (v. 6) to give thanks to the Lord in prayer, and to announce His deeds publicly. We should sing His praises and take pride and joy in His character. We should draw near to Him in prayer, seeking His help constantly. We should remember His works that inspire astonishment and wonder in the beholder, and in the wise judgments that He has revealed.
Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! (Psalm 105:1)
