KING ASA’S OBEDIENCE

January 23

In these 3 Chapters of 2 Chronicles (12-14) we see King Asa’s obedience contrasted with the other King’s disobedience. We see that King Asa is given way more attention than to any of the other kings who reigned. This is because his reign spanned the time of 7 Israelite kings who were disobedient and did not follow God. We see Asa’s obedience blessed because at this time he was trusting God. He was a King who removed many of the idolatrous images and other means of idolatry. Because of his trust in God he was delivered from attackers in this chapter. His prayer in verse 11 is a model for all of us who get into distress. He knew where to go and seek help in his time of need. Do we? Where do we go when life gets tough?

2 Chronicles 14:11 And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”
