SYMBOLS OF BLESSING

The loaves of showbread were laid in the tabernacle in God’s presence for 7 days.  They were changed out every 7 days and were not laid there as a sacrifice to God for Him to eat as idolatrous people did for their so called gods. This represented several things:  First it was symbolic of Israel’s calling from God as His people. It was symbolic of the Messiah’s (Jesus the bread of life) presence with them as one who sustains them.  Third it was to represent their continual thanksgiving for all of the blessings of God they received each and every day. It also was a symbol of God’s providing and that Israel was supposed to be a source of spiritual food for the world. These things hold true for us today, we (if we know Christ) are His tabernacle and we ought to remember as they did, all these great things that God is and has done for us.

Exodus 25:30 “And you shall set the showbread (“bread of the Presence”) on the table before Me always.
