THE FORERUNNER OF CHRIST

January 3

In Matthew 3:1-3 the forerunner of Christ came preaching repentance.  Repentance is not just being sorry, but it is a complete change of attitude, spiritual and moral towards God.  It really means to turn to God and be saved. (1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,). John was just a voice crying out in passion for people to get right with the Lord and be saved.  He was saying clean up your lives and get rid of all the things that are not in line with what the Lord commands in His word (get saved).  Have we repented (turned to God and been saved) and are we daily taking up our cross and following Him?  Let us determine to let Him control every area of our lives today that others may see our good works and glorify Him.  Amen!

Matthew 3:1-3 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” 3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.'”
