THE NEED TO REMAIN WATCHFUL

February 9

Matthew 24 Verse 42 applies all that Jesus said beginning in verse 32. Jesus’ disciples need to remain watchful because the exact time of the His return is unknown even though signs of His coming will point out His approach. Jesus continued instructing His disciples but here He stressed the importance of caution and faithfulness as He prepared them for His return. This is a warning for us to be ready for the Lord Jesus to come back.  He could come at any time for His church. Then the Great Tribulation will start and when He comes some will be those who are Christians and are carrying out His will while they wait for His return.  These are the ones who will receive a reward when He comes back.  He goes on in the next verses to describe the unbeliever (unsaved) person who is doing whatever they want to do and will experience God’s wrath when He comes back.  Which one are you?

Matthew 24:42-46 “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 “But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. 45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 “Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
