TRUE FAMILY

January 17

Jesus is not dismissing his family or saying they have no part with Him, but He is saying His true (spiritual) family are those who have trusted in Him as their Lord and Savior.  It is not those who try to do good things, go to church, get baptized or take communion who are the family of Christ, but it is those who have trusted in Him and because of that they do His will.  That is, they keep His commandments, no, not perfectly, no one does this on earth, we will be perfect in heaven but our want to’s, our desires are to please God.  Not because we have to but because we want to as we have been changed from the inside by the Holy Spirit who now lives in us because we are saved. All throughout the New Testament the Bible says those that know Christ live differently because of their salvation.  You can’t be a Christian and not have your life change.  It is impossible.  Over and over again Jesus would say “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say (Luke 6:46)? Trust Him today and become part of His family.

Matthew 12:50 “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
