TRUST AND OBEY

December 12

The preceding verses speak of how blessed they are to be a part of all the blessings of the new covenant and contrasts it with the Old Testament as the writer has done many times in this Book. He then says the ones who did not heed His voice in the Old Testament were judged and with all the new revelation given in the New Testament we are much more accountable to God than they were. This is a warning that we should trust in Christ and what He has done for us to save us. The shaking spoken of will lead to the creation of new heavens and a new earth that will remain (Ps. 95:9-11; Hag. 2:6; Rev. 21:1). Please if you have not trusted Christ trust in Him today and if you are wavering in your faith and considering walking off from the Lord consider that He loves you and cares for you no matter what is going on in your life. Turn back to Him in repentance and ask forgiveness and keep on trusting, that is what Hebrews is all about.

Hebrews 12:25-26 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”
