UNDERSTANDING THE PARABLE OF THE TARES OF THE FIELD

January 20

Jesus explains the parable to His disciples by saying that He is the one who sows the good seed (the Gospel -1 Corinthians 15:3-4).  True believers living in the world are going to be attacked by unbelievers (tares) and they will also try to deceive others into believing they are really saved.  They will try to deceive and destroy true believers by leading them down false roads and infiltrating all the good things true believers are doing.  They will take every opportunity to destroy the testimony of God’s people and the work they are doing.  Look around you, many you may know are not really believers.  One famous preacher said he believed if the rapture occurred during church only about 28% of the people would disappear and leave to be with the Lord. The rest are unbelievers. We need to be able to discern the truth by knowing our bibles and when these people try to discourage, destroy, or stop our work for the Lord we should be able to spot them and what they are doing because we know our bible so well.

Matthew 13:36-39 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.” 37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 “The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 “The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
