WHAT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS ALL ABOUT

January 14

Jesus is teaching that we must love other people, but we are always to love Him more.  Anything that we love more than Him is an idol.  That is why Jesus would say that we are to die to ourselves (take up our cross) and put Him first in everything.  Sometimes this involves pain and shame, but He still comes first. If we try to get it all now or what we want instead of Mt 6:33 seek first His kingdom, we will lose it all in the end.  We are to put Jesus first and then our lives will glorify Him. We give up our wants and put His first, then we get it all when we go to heaven.  We don’t know what He will give us on this earth and what He will withhold for our good and His glory. But it is always the best because He knows what is best for our lives. That is what the Christian life is all about.

Matthew 10:37-39 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
