WORLDLY LURES

December 27

Many believers have been lured away from a life of faithfulness by greed and sexual temptation (v4). Paul said in Philippians 4:11-13 He had LEARNED the secret of contentment and could do all things through Christ who strengthened him. Paul describes good situations and bad ones in that section. We need to LEARN how to be content because it does not come from having all you want or from health, or life going our way all the time. The Lord is all we need (cf. Luke 12:15; Phil. 4:11; 1 Tim. 6:6-10). He is the bread of life, the living water and He who comes to Him will never hunger or thirst (spiritually). He loves us and always gives us what we NEED to be what He wants us to be and do in this life. He affirms that with verse 6 saying HE will never leave us nor forsake us. Sometimes we wonder, but if we are truly His Child, then we never have to worry about His love for us and care for us ALL the time. Do you believe that and trust in that? If not ask Him to forgive you and restore to you the joy of your salvation.

Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
