THE GRACE OF GOD

November 8

If you read Titus 2:1-10 you will see the way Christians are supposed to live each and every day. Then in Titus 2:11-14 Paul gives us the reason why we should behave this way. The first reason is we should respond this way in light of God’s gracious gift of salvation that has been shown to all people through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection which allows all who believe to be saved.  Second, this grace teaches us to live in such a way that shows we are holy and righteous to a watching world. Thirdly, we that know Christ have the blessed hope of Jesus coming back for us one day and we ought to be living in such a way that will be pleasing to HIM (1 John 3:2-3 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.) Lastly, we see the reason Jesus came was to create His own special people who now have the power to live in a godly manner and are eager to do it. Let us do what it says in speaking about all of these things, rebuking those who are not doing this like they ought to, and letting no one despise us for living in such a way as to dishonor God.  This is especially important for all and especially a minister of the Gospel to heed and obey.  Amen!

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

LISTENING AND DOING

The Lord called all the people then alive in Judah, to pay attention to, and to take to heart, His message to them. He had not been as ungiving as a wilderness or as unenlightening as darkness to them. They had no reason to feel free to abandon Him. Let us remember...
